There are two systems for taking notes on what you read

There are three broad tiers of structure

Parsecs

This is the broadest possible view. For sweeping summaries, generalizations, and main points.

Meters

An intermediate view for trying to contain some specificity in a lightly condensed form. Notes are done in sentence form on chapters, characters, and themes.

Plancks

The most granular view. Atomic, bulleted comments on the work line-by-line.

  • You can incorporate example tags into your work by using Zotero’s tag function or writing them into the comment itself. Zotero is preferred.
