These may be the only kind of website i ever make. At least as long as the internet looks like it does not, which let’s admit, is unlikely. But by the point we have brain compute-centered experiences, i doubt we’ll still be calling them websites anymore so semantically i think i’m safe.

I settled on straight HTML hosted by Github for my portfolio. There are pros and cons. I decided customization, easy of access, and maintenance won out over newfangled polish and scalablility for my portfolio application.

  • [p] Stylistic control is extremely high, allows for one-offs deviations
  • [p] AI-assistance is readily available, somewhat easy to learn
  • [p] Self-hosting is accessible
  • [p] Response times are lightning fast
  • [c] Scalability is somewhat clunky
  • [c] Fancy reactive elements are virtually impossible

In the future i might transition to a more structured framework like ruby but that seems to be a dying community.
